Recently, US President Barack Obama tried to make a proposal to the World to go without nukes. He authorized a resolution and placed in front of UN which was aimed to ban all the nuclear test and open talks on halting production on bomb making fissle material for next 12 month. The surprising fact about the proposal was that it was unanimously approved by UN security council. The resolution was also intended to support the universality of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The treaty is all about to limit the spread of nuclear weapon and try to make the world nuke free. The four recognized states of world that are currently not the part of this treaty are India, Isreal, Pakistan and North Korea. The resoltion was an allusion for India to sign the treaty. The resolution was not a thunderbolt but the way Obama presented it came as a surprise to many. These are the qualties that made him the leader of world's most powerful nation... isn't it???
In response to his proposal, India's permanent representive to UN didn't equivocate and rather gave a swift argument that India is not obliged to adhere any such treaty (NPT). Earlier India's prime minister stated in one of the parliament session that their is no ambivalence in india's decision not to join NPT as india's nuclear weapon are a part of india's national security and security of its 1 billion population. As a personal opinion i am not sure whether it is a right decision as almost all recognised nations are the part of this treaty, so whats wrong in moving a step farward and make the world a better place to live. But at the same time a counter thought comes in mind - "what about pakistan!!!!! ", recall its also a nuclear nation. what if it will sweep India from the World's map??? obviously we are showing ego centrism here, but you have to take care of the security of nation also...
As india's UN representive made this argument, many canards started making their way in the air. What about Indo-US civil nuclear Deal??? Would it make any impact on this??? Will US make a second though on this??? But then Prime minister made a statement in public that US government has assured that this resoltion is not directed for india and this has nothing to do with the Indo-US civil nuclear deal. The deal will remain undiluted.
Last week Pittsburg also witnessed a G-20 Leaders Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy volutarily hosted by Barack Obama, President of US. India's prime minister and a doctorate in economics Dr. Manmohan Singh represented India there. The meet was intended to understand and discuss the root cause of the worst ever gloval economic crisis, nation's future reforms in coming out of this reccession and spread the euphoria among citizen, and many such economic policies. Dr. singh was also invited by Obama as a guest at white house come november. Fortunately that day was Dr. singh's birthday also. His day was celebrated with all the prominet leaders of the world. can you imagine anything better???
On funny note, a thought came into my mind. During this parliament election, Mayawati was also portraited as the Prime Minister of India. Had she been elected as the Prime minister of India and had she represented India in G20 Summit, what could she be doing there??? pulling her hairs or others!!!!!!!! ohh... wait a minute does she know english???? lolz..
Thats why we call india, rich in diversity nation...

Nice one.
ReplyDeleteYes you said it right that India cannot go for such a treaty, it has to look for its own security.
US is something which makes rules, India is someone who always follows rules, treaty etc, but there exists a Pakistan, which can anytime break any rule, any treaty and do anything and spread terrorism, we should be full ready to face any such situation in the future.
